Special Event: The Future of Local News

The Edward W. Forry & Mary Casey Forry Foundation for Community Journalism is a 501(c)(3) public charity dedicated to building the next generation of local journalists from Boston’s own neighborhoods. Through programs like the Thomas F. Mulvoy Jr. Scholarship — named for the beloved Boston Globe editor, teacher, and mentor — the Foundation is creating real pathways into journalism for students who know and reflect the communities they’ll one day cover. Tax-deductible donations to the Forry Foundation directly fund this work.

Boston’s neighborhoods have always deserved great journalism. Since 1983, the Forry family has delivered it — through the Dorchester Reporter, the Mattapan Reporter, BostonHaitian.com, and BostonIrish.com — covering the stories that matter to the communities that big media overlooks. The Forry Foundation carries that mission forward.

At a time when local news is retreating across the country, your gift helps fund the actual cost of reporting, train the next generation of journalists from Boston’s own neighborhoods, and keep an independent, community-owned voice alive in the city.
